There is some story from when I am small that I am growing up with. One that I am thinking of now is called Koschei in Russian.. or Koschiy in Ukrainian. He is.. um, antagonist? In story. Because he will kidnap heroes wife.
He is also being called Koschei immortal, deathless? He cannot die by hurting his body. In fact.. his soul is not in his body. It is hidden inside needle, which is then inside large egg.. that is hidden within duck, and duck is in hare which is in chest.. chest is buried on an island in Ocean.
Tale says if chest is un bury then hare will flee, and if it is killed a duck will fly.. and if one has gained possession of egg then Koschei is in their power. Koschei will weaken, he will get sick, lose his magic. If egg is tossed, he will be flung. If egg or needle are broken, he will die.
It is very curious story.

In Ukraine, well in much of Soviet Union we have never celebrated this Halloween, many in my country do not even know festival exists. It is another day like others. I am not understanding what point is for this festival?
I am thinking that like many, they are sometimes pointless. I say much for some festivals that I am knowing of in my country. |
